THE LITTLE MERMAID RETOLD
In the original story the Mermaid relinquished not only her tail but her tale. In an attempt to be accepted by the non-Mer, she had to give up her voice.
I said this was in the original story but I have my doubts as to its accuracy, after all it was told by a non-Mer!
