For the fist time in history disability is being removed from our daily vision. Medicine is removing from our experience a diversity of life, with 'diseases' removed an homogeneous landscape of bodies is left. This project records the physical motion of 'abnormal bodies'. Using motion capture  5 physically impaired people will be filmed 'living'. Their intimate movements captured as they move using crutches, wheelschairs, floor movements, bikes and unaided physical movements. Using actors with Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Brittle Bones, et al. Sound and motion will be recorded to simulate bathing, eating, shopping, relaxing, arguing, having sex and much, much more ...

The motion capture will be attached to simple, iconic, figures: motion capture skeletons. Each will form 5 seperate performances of 15 minutes. Playing out across 5 monitors facing each other in a circle or a single split-screen).  The recorded motions are an intimate archive of the motions disabled and can be watched for as short or as long as wished. The stick figures will move on a white background with basic shapes as props. The viewer thereby being able to i nterprete the actions on screen in their own, multiple and organic ways.

In addition, as an counterbalance to the video films, there will be an 'ironic' web site which  will offer the motion for sale to computer game makers (www.disabilitymotion.com) . Will this be the only way we will be able to see and understand the physical life of an 'abnormal body' in the future?
